Allusion of the Stars

They dreamed of living among the stars.

The lights reminded them of warmth,

brought them back to a peaceful time.

For a short moment they were able to forget the troubles of their reality; able to fully embrace one another and the security they brought to hide from the demons.

But nothing lasts forever.

They knew that all too soon their ecstasy filled fantasies would end.

Forcing them to face an empty, pathetic reality.

A reality where looking up to the stars for guidance, leaves them confused and lost.

Stuck in a world polluting the sky with fake lights that leave in the dark.

Alone,

lostly floating through life.

Like I’m a galaxy,

but here they had no alignment.

And so they dreamed of living among the stars.

Among purpose, guidance, and light.

A place where there’s always a shed of light, in the darkest corners.

They dreamed because living in an allusion was better than facing their nightmares.
